Short-Term Follow-Up of Palpable Breast Lesions With Benign Imaging Features: Evaluation of 375 Lesions in 320 Women

This paper by Harvey et al, from the University of Virginia was published in the American Journal of Roentgenology in Dec 2009.
The conclusions were that - short-term follow-up is a reasonable alternative to biopsy of palpable breast lesions with benign imaging features, particularly for young women with probable fibroadenoma
The results were similar to that shown by Sickles in his papers on BIRADS 3.
Although the preponderance of women were young, below the age of mammography, the data show that short term follow up can work in these women.
